Apple River Fort State Historic Site

Apple River Fort State Historic Site is a reconstructed fort on a seven-acre site which tells stories of the area’s Native Americans, its early settlers, and the Black Hawk War of 1832. The land surrounding the fort is restored to prairie vegetation and heritage gardens.
